Bio

Lindsay Rosenberg is an upright and electric bassist based in

New York City. She is a versatile performer of musical theater, pop and classical music. She has played with Opera Italiana in Central Park with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra to the Broadway Sinfonietta alongside Laura Bell Bundy. Lindsay can often be found at iconic New York City venues including, The Duplex, 54 Below, Triad Theater, Green Room 42 and more. She has toured with the Legally Blonde National Tour and most recently, the 1st National Tour of The Cher Show.

Lindsay is an adventurous, creative solo performer who is actively bringing works by living composers to life. They have commissioned works such as Kirsten Ewart’s “Childlike”, (double bass and doorstops) and recorded for Dan Langa’s multi-movement project, “After Nothing Comes”, (small ensemble). In addition, She has worked with composers from Tufts University alongside bassist Robert Black and composer John McDonald to workshop, perform and record new works by students. In 2023, Lindsay was a Performance Fellow at The Next Festival for Emerging Artists, premiering new composers works in Chatham, NY and NYC, most notably working with math rock artist Yvette Young (Covet). She continues to work with American Composers Orchestra to bring awareness to new composers. Coming in March 2025, Lindsay will be performing solo works by Philip Glass at the Morgan Library for their Franz Kafka Exhibit.

Lindsay is also a passionate music educator, who believes in diversity, equity, inclusion and making music for everyone. She pioneered a general music program at Uncommon Schools, Excellence Girls Charter School in Brooklyn by creating exciting, new music lessons for young girls. She spent two years as a teaching artist at the Noel Pointer Foundation, inspiring young violin, viola, cello and double bass students in Brooklyn. Now, Lindsay teaches private and group lessons to Violin, Cello, Upright Bass, Electric Bass and Guitar students around the city.

 

She holds her Master’s Degree with a Departmental String Studies Award in Double Bass Performance from New York University where she studied with Gregg August. They also hold their Bachelor’s in Double Bass Performance and Music Education from University of Hartford, The Hartt School where she studied with Robert Black.
